TheConwells
The Conwell surname is of Irish origins, the original Gaelic version being Mac Conmhaoil. Descended from Eogan, son of Niall of the Nine Hostages, High King of Ireland. Their clan seat was located in County Donegal, Ireland. They were allied with Clan Owen.
The first Conwell to arrive in the new world was believed to have landed in Lewes, Delaware in 1690. Since then, Conwell's have spread across America, fought on both sides of the Civil War, and have had notable family members such as Russell Conwell, founder of Temple University.
